Kiev also claimed responsibility for the attack. They said the attack took place in Makivka on New Year’s Eve (December 31).

This number of casualties was mentioned in a statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense on Monday. It is the highest death toll in a single attack that Moscow has released so far in the Russia-Ukraine war.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said in a statement last night that their forces carried out the attack on Makivka. “As many as 10 units of various types of enemy military equipment have been destroyed and damaged,” the statement said.

However, the General Staff has not yet confirmed the exact number of people killed in Makivka. The General Staff said the damage assessment is underway.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the country’s forces have shot down more than 80 drones since the beginning of 2023. He also said that this number may increase in the near future.
